Tips on using Science Exchange for R&D services.

How can I communicate with researchers requesting my services?

Sign in to your account, and you will see all new opportunities, quotes you have provided, orders in progress, and completed orders on the “Requests & Orders” tab of your Provider dashboard. Any requests that are awaiting quotes can be found under the “New Opportunities” column.

Click on the box corresponding to a new request to see the details on the Order page. On this page (screenshot shown below), you can:

1) Contact Science Exchange Support

2) Post a message to acknowledge the requester or to ask for more information

3) Use the Private Chat box to communicate with collaborators within your organization. **Please note messages in this window are only visible to you and your collaborators, and Science Exchange will not be notified of your response. To contact Science Exchange, please use the ‘Support’ button.**

Click the “Submit a Quote” button to create a quote. Creating a quote will issue a formal quotation to the requester. Alternatively, you can decline the request. Declining a request will not negatively impact your search rankings. Do your best to respond within 2 business days – we have found responsive service providers earn more orders.

You will also receive an email notification when there is a new quote request or message. You can reply to that email, and your email reply will be copied as a message to the Order page timeline.

It is important to keep written communication on the platform. In the rare case of a dispute, the messages become an audit trail. That being said, we absolutely encourage phone calls! We simply ask you to provide a brief summary of what you covered in the conversation on the order page.
